CONGREGATION OF THE
RELIGIOUS OF THE VIRGIN MARY
Founded in 1684 by Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo
Founded in 1684 by Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo
Our Congregation was born of Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo's discernment and courageous response to serve the Divine Majesty.
From this seed evolved our apostolic spirituality. The spirit of St. Ignatius of Loyola, with its powerful apostolic orientation, motivated by a magnanimous love for Jesus Christ, bears an imprint on our apostolic life. We are contemplatives-in-action, daily seeking to do the will of God in all things. Contemplation and action inspirit each other. Prayer fosters a contemplative vision of the world impelling to action; action, in turn, enriches and invigorates prayer. Our whole religious life is imbued with an apostolic spirit; and the whole of our apostolic action is animated by a religious spirit.
